Café Nocturno | Our Story
Born from a daughter's question
Café Nocturno didn't start with a business plan — it started with a simple ask from a daughter who'd seen tres leches cake on TikTok. Four years of obsession later, Cleveland has a late-night bakery unlike anything else in the city.
The question that changed everything
Felipe had never heard of tres leches when his daughter asked him to make one. That first attempt — and an Oreo birthday cake for her friend — lit a four-year fire to perfect the soak, the cream, and every layer.
From Philip to Felipe
Before the bakery, there was an Uber. Testing cakes with local Mexican restaurants led to a fateful ride with a Latina pastry chef whose insight sharpened his craft — and earned him the compliment he still treasures: pasteles como tu abuelita.
Opening night, January 2025
In January 2025, Felipe left driving behind and opened Café Nocturno — a late-night bakery built for conversation, Latin music, and lingering over something sweet. Open every day from 4 p.m., the café comes alive after dark.
Over 60 flavors and counting
What started as one recipe has grown into over 60 tres leches varieties, plus Choco Flan, Telera bread, and Bizcocho — all added because guests kept asking. Every cake is made fresh to order with 24-hour notice.
